So for whatever reason I've gotten back into my love of classical music, which is weird I guess for my friends because they see a metalhead and here I love classical music.
Anywho, last night I purchased a violin for myself. I haven't played since I was in 6th-7th grade, so yeah, it's been a while. And while I was tuning it last night, the A string popped off and struck my chest, so I couldn't play at all last night.
First thing this morning, I went back to the music store and got another string and fixed it all up. By 4 o'clock this afternoon, I am now able to play all 4 strings, do complete pizzicato, play Mary Had Little Lamb, Jingle Bells, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Beethoven's Ode to Joy, to name a few. I know they're simple songs, but I haven't played in sooooo long, so I'm taking baby steps for now.
Wayne was actually my encouragement to start playing again. We had this nice lengthy discussion in the shower the other night about my fast lil fingers. He was suggesting that since I'm still in the process of looking for a job, so the majority of my days are free, and I have super fast fingers, that I should start playing again. Which also lead into a nice discussion of why I haven't played since. Ya know I had this silly thing called high school to go to, no source of income (violins nowadays start at about $700 and go up from there), dance practice 4 hours a day 6 days a week, and no encouragement from my parents, so yeah, that about explains no violin for me.
While we were in the music store and I was finalizing the sales, I figured I needed sheet music, beginners of course, and Wayne being the doll that he is bought me a book of Celtic Fiddle sheet music. Which compared to Beethoven looks scary. But it's my goal to be able to play at least one song in the next 6 months and within the next 2 years, I want to be able to play Igor Stravinsky's Rite of Spring - Part 1: The Adoration of the Earth.
So yeah, if I'm not on here a lot posting and stuff, you all know what I'm doing.
Blessed be!
