So I finally saw Watchmen (well, it was actually a week ago). My only problem with the movie was the fact that I finished reading the book about 3 hours before I saw the movies. So all the differences between the movie and the book were super-obvious and stood out like crazy, it was quite distracting. I really should have given myself more time than 3 hours Despite that, I did like the movie, and I hope to see it again in a couple weeks or so.
And I would agree that reading the book first does help your enjoyment of the movie, sometime even the little things that have no bearing at all on the plot...like after rescuing all those people from the burning building, you see Laurie putting the coffee cups away

Yeah, a friend had already told me that there was no octupus at the end of the movie. I guess they figured the general public would find Dr. Manhattan being the "common enemy" more believable than aliens.
It's funny though, the (movie) ending is alot like The Dark Knight, in the sense that Dr. Manhattan is willing to take the blame for the good of mankind, just like Batman took the blame for Dent's murders in order to keep the people's hope alive that they can win against crime.
