A little off topic...
okay really off topic. somthing seems to be sticking in my mind this week.
I've heard from 3 different sources this week, not excactly addressed to me, but about me none the less.
'She's just letting her voice go to waste!'
and then a response to deepen the blow, 'Yes, I remember!' with a pittiful look that follows.
May I just say...W T F???
I was raised as a strong southern baptist. By that I mean, I was forced to go to church at least three times a week. I had to wear dresses. I was forced to think what they believed, or damned. And to top it off, I was lead to believe the music I loved was only sinful, and full of ungodliness.
From the age of three to 17, when I became a teenage mother, I sang at varius gatherings, services, youth rallies, and specials for my community. I don't regret it. BUT, once I stepped to the side of an undoutfully sinner (teenage mother, un-wed... and hell bound) I gave it up.
I sang other than that only music acceptable by my father, pubicly to safe face. Patsy Cline, Martina Mcbride, Tim McGraw, ect(if you don't know what I'm talking about, no worries, just a touch of my roots.) I even learned to sing songs that are no longer on record, or radio from the 20's and 30' that where part of the 'depression'.
But even before my sins caught up with me, I yerned for more. I secretly loved Alice in Chains, Electrostatic, Bio Hazard, Metallica , and even other types like Oasis, Atlantis Morrisette, and Space Hog to name a few.
I didn't want to be a wittness to 'Lord the savior' I wanted to sing heart and soul into the things I was feelin in those days.
SO what do you think I should do to react, other than ignore, these aqusations? How do I handle it? Should I be taking it as a hint, that no matter what, i should still be singing?
I'm just curious how others think I should handling this...
Thanks, Derelcit
