Hey @missy & @rambo

5/11: What seemingly small or inconsequential event changed your life in a major way
Five Summers ago I was gifted tickets to a music festival about 40 minutes away. In all honesty I wasn't even going to go, but an artist that never comes around was switched in at the last minute, so I went. It might sound weird to say that a music festival changed my life, but it did.
Why?
Well one of the reasons is due to me being a huge nature lover. I used to spend most of my free time outside in nature, even if I was just sitting in the grass. My happy place was outside in the sun. I fell back into my gamer mode some years after I graduated high school, and although being a gamer and spending your time gaming isn't bad at all, that was what I spent most of my time doing. I love gaming, but I need to balance it out with time outside as well. Being at the festival that summer opened my eyes to what I was missing at the time: being outside in the sun, listening to music, and being with my friends. Ever since, I've been more pro-active in spending the nice days outside, being active and still feeding my gamer needs on cloudy or rainy days.
Another reason was that it opened me up to music I had no longer been listening to. At first I judged all newer electronic music as sounding the same, but once I gave it a chance and really listened, I saw what all the hype was about. I was into some EDM music when I was younger and even went to an actual rave (the ones in the abandoned warehouses). That summer helped me find a lot of new music, including my new and absolute favorite current artist Bassnectar. Favorite set to this day was watching him close that festival weekend out on Sunday night. Words cant describe the amazing vibes I had.
One of the best reasons is that the festival connected me to my current friend group, which is the best group of friends I have ever had. I only met a couple of them that weekend, and I had already known one for a long time, but it had been awhile since I'd seen him. That weekend helped me reconnect with him, and because of that I went to Electric Forest the next summer and met all of my current friends camping then. They are people I really connect with and feel on a deep level. I love the closeness we all share and we hang out a ton now. Never have I had so many people care and be so accepting of me. Love them!
The most prevalent change in my life from the festival though, was learning about hula hooping. I mean obviously I had known what a hula hoop was and have used one before, but not like this. People were dancing and doing tricks with LED hoops and it looked so serene. Once the festival was over I wasted no time in getting my own hoop and learning to dance and do tricks like I had seen others do. Now I'm one of the people in the crowd dancing with my hoop at every show/festival that has room for it! Hula hooping has been a HUGE positive change in my life, its what I turn to to find peace. Consider it my meditation.
So there you have it! Festivals happen all around the world every year and I'm lucky to experience some of them and the happiness they can bring. I feel like that summer I was reminded of the important things in life and what was important to me. Experience is everything to me.
Had to attach my favorite photo from that weekend :)
