2005 is a welcome change... let's drink to better days.
I always have a problem with even numbered years, they unsettle me, and this one was as unsettling as they come. I keep bending force of will towards better things for all and all. From the global to the local, believe me.
I did, however, find myself in a very good place over most of the holiday season. Some how I managed selective blocking of the shitstorm, and isolated a few days of peaceful and indulgent home life. We got a new mixer over the holidays, a Vestax PCV-275, I love love love it. Optical faders, oh so nice; very clean and responsive, great separation. More channels so just about everything jacks in at once... I just need another cable for the computer. But we've got the tv/video gear, sound gear - two decks/CD player, Playstation and Kaoss pad all plugged in and there's still spare channels. Yeah Of course, you can hardly vacuum in here with all the cords... but I manage it.
Been storming like mad here the past couple of days, and it's sposed to go on for another few. The sidewalk outside turns into a creek when it rains like this. There's a mega-high tide due tomorrow as well, so this could get interesting. I've been out weeding the garden between downpours, they weeds come out so easily when the ground is soft. They're sposed to come put new windows in the place on Monday, so tomorrow we move everything in the other side of the house - the side that we didn't have to move during the flood in November! Ha! Spring cleaning, enforced by circumstance.
In a bit I'm going over to visit my pal who brews mead... man, is that stuff wonderous. It's like fairy liquor, and we all know how fairies hold their liquor. The stuff is light and a bit fizzy, clear grassy pale pale yellow, and goes down like nothing else. It's just right for summer, and in winter, reminds you of what summer was like You can taste the honey, as a sort of a musky undertone, it's not sweet in any way. Very refreshing.
Cheers.
