Dreams Less Sweet. Still lovely, after so many years.
Had dinner with the noizy friends on Friday. Talked about the TG reunion, about Gen transforming, to Jennifer? Such a brilliant man, so miss-placed? So many questions. I'd love to see Gen again. He had a purity of purpose, as undefined as the purpose was, that I'd love to achieve in life.
Burning Man tix go on sale at midnight tonight. I will buy them. I will go to the desert. Year number ten. Kiddo will be sixteen in the desert this year, sixteen years of life. She says she can't remember a summer of not going to the desert, this makes me smile smile smile! I can't imagine being a person with that background. I get to remember masses and uniforms and catholic lies from childhood. Hah! She has a t-shirt that says, "My inner child is an honor student at Black Rock High." Hehe, lucky kid.
Kinda foggy, kinda misty today. Tomorrow is the big meeting at work, librarians v technology, my job is to make sure everyone leaves a winner. I can do this, I can! I've been working for this for years now, and seeing it come to pass, well, I guess there's some purpose there eh?
Things end, things begin. I think I'll bbq shrimp in peanut sauce for dinner, check the used record store, hunker down with the kid and get ready for the new world tomorrow. Can't miss out on this extra day in the calendar! Since it's here today, I'm going to fill it with the things I'd like to fill my year with: good food, good tunes, garden and sleep.
Happy Leap Day!
PS: The party last weekend went great. Lots of people there I didn't know, lots of people dancing! I played about an hour and a half set, covered a lot of ground. Played the Cluster piece on that Tiger Beat combo EP to a good reception. It's not so much lively as it is flowing, if you layer it with beats it seems to be moving right along... if you know old electronic music, you'd know it was Cluster, but you'd have to wonder with the context and all. It was nice. Slammed some wacked out D&B to start off with, then some Kit Clayton, Vellocette, Parallel label tunes, out with Green Velvet, Steve Bug, Hakan Libdo, Francois K... deep n tweaky. Layered in some ranting of a born again ex-con, a wonderful record that one, and also another gem called "How to Develop Your ESP. Good beer too.

Yum Indeed!
I wish I had known that sexy minx and all her chums (kinda obvious from my handle huh?)
You Can't Win huh? Good book. Where have all the opium dens gone in our lovely City?
still, i'll betcha it'll be a blast.
so, i'm all up and set to play a new game/puzzle on the site, and i think i should let my friends know about it, because i'll be acting a BIT peculiar once i start playing it. but it'll make perfect sense for those who are following along.
as for great albums, i have a few really swell ones. i have a lot of old lounge/exotica albums back in jersey that i could make a fortune pawning off on e-bay, for starters. i also have mrs. miller's greatest hits and this REALLY bizarre album put out for a coca-cola bottler's convention in sf called "the great get-together." you've got songs on it like "the big bottling plant in the sky" and "what's good for america" ("...is just GREAT BUSINESS!").
that thing, as you can imagine, is my pride and joy.
and btw, i love "you can't win" as well. "if you live with wolves, you will learn to howl."
