So, it's work and it's not.
I've had some initial sketches from the Artist for the book cover, and while (as always) I'm thrilled with her skill and style, she doesn't really have what I want.
So I'm doing some photo research and poring through my prose to find good passages to help her nail down the characters. And it feels like work, work, but doesn't. A little annoying but in the fun way. Like a video game annoying.
Interesting - also interesting that I avoid doing it - both because I want to get it right and because I want to enjoy that process. I wonder what it would be like if I made my living this way - had it as my dayjob. Would it still be cool? It feels like it would.

my two cents? [Most often worth less, but billed at far higher rates] taking one's time and making sure you're - - entirely - - satisfied with the end result will ultimately prove worth the effort, once you get around to it . . .

it's true, though I'm often iterative in this, I rarely get it right the first time
