After a couple nights of frosts, most of the garden has died, leaving the hardier kale, chard, lettuces, beets, and broccoli. I actually had to buy tomatoes at the market last night for the first time in months and it was a bit sad.
Aside from losing my bounty of veggies in the backyard, I rather like autumn. After the hecticness of the summer it feels nice to have less to do, more free time to sit inside and have a fire, read a book, or work on a new art project without feeling guilty for not enjoying the weather outdoors.
I have officially registered for my Nursing Assistant courses, and have gotten my textbooks. Although in no way is it a high paying job, I am looking forward to being in the service of others.. and as much as I have spent my life pretending money isn't relevant- I am also looking forward to being able to accumulate a bit of savings. Hopefully traveling overseas this winter will be feasible again.
