Bittersweet.

I'm in a really good place at this moment, mentally speaking. I'm somewhat content and have a bunch of thoughts that are keeping me happy and occupied. Oddly enough, the following sentence is something I never thought I'd say; part of the reason I'm happy is my sudden an unexpected involvement in roller derby. Not as a photographer, as I might have thought, but a far more direct involvement. Years upon years of watching recordings of games online and on DVD's and VHS tapes (yeah, that long...), I never thought this would happen.

So that's the sweet, here's the bitter; I know when I go to bed tonight, this is the best I'll feel until maybe sometime around this hour next weekend, if not the following weekend. I'm loathe to give in to my desire to cast off this conscious coil and surrender to sweet slumber, as I'm all to aware that, when I awake, I'll be greeted with the harsh reality of another weekend wasted here, hundreds to thousands of miles away from the people I want to be with.
