I wanted to let you know about a new petition I created on We the People, a new feature on WhiteHouse.gov, and ask for your support. Will you add your name to mine? If this petition gets 99,999 signatures by March 27, 2016, the White House will review it and respond!
We the People allows anyone to create and sign petitions asking the Obama Administration to take action on a range of issues. If a petition gets enough support, the Obama Administration will issue an official response.

Here's some more information about this petition:
Change the DOJ and FBI collection and reporting data when convictions have been expunged, pardoned or dismissed
Currently the Bureau of Criminal Information and Analysis collects data on each individual for each arrest. They keep this information on record for 100 years. I am petitioning that if a record has been expunged, sealed and destroyed, charges have never been pressed, case has been dismissed or a person has been pardoned, that the arresting information be permanently removed from background checks. Although existing law requires that there be no discrimination based upon expunged or sealed records. These questions are still asked on applications and employers are still discriminating. The 100 year law is causing unemployment increase, student loan debt being unable to be repaid due to employment being denied. No negative information should reflect on a persons record once rehabilitated.
