I just had an encounter with a very pissed off little Northern Water Snake. He was laying on the road. I drove over him (purposely missing him with my wheels) and expected to see that he was squished. He wasn't! 
So, I pulled over, got my Club from my trunk, and ran over to him. As I started to put the end of the Club toward him, to coax him off the road, <WHAP> His open mouth made a satisfying sound against the end of the Club. <WHAP> <WHAP> <WHAP> Again and again he curled back and struck the Club. On a couple of his strikes he changed tactics a little and almost got my hand. I felt like giving out a good, "Crickey! She sure is pissed off!" But no one was around to appreciate it. 
After a couple dozen strikes, he gave up and slithered into a nearby rock wall.
On a different note, I bought a new laptop! The list price was $2622. I got it for $1445! I had a really good coupon.
