Whew. Been a while since I updated.
Last night we went to Dave&Busters and hung out with Sid and her man and joenobody. I think fun was had by all.
Tonight we're going to Brankauti's brother's place to play cards. We won him a poker set at Dave&Busters last night.
I need to get off my duff and really gets plans moving on my billionth second party. (On May 20th, in case you forgot) So far, I have some plans, but haven't executed anything yet. I'm going to send out invitations. So, if you want one, send me an email with a mailing address. There will be an RSVP card included so that the appropriate food will be available.
I got pissed off at one of my coworkers this week. Tuesday morning I needed to take my laptop offsite and run a program for another lab. When I got in, the laptop I needed wasn't in my office. No note. No email. No voice mail. I scrambled around for 45 minutes looking for it. Then I picked up a different laptop and had to go. I looked like an unprepared ass in front of the other lab and their guests. But I got the job done. So, Thursday, I sent out an nasty email to my whole lab, explaining what happened and that it shouldn't EVER happen like that again. Sent my lab into a tizzy.
Was up in Boston on Wednesday for a talk by Edward Tufte. I didn't pay the $350 out of pocket. But would've been pissed if I did. It was supposed to be about presenting data. And only an hour or so (of the 6 hours) was about presenting data. I've heard that his boks are helpful. But I wouldn't recommend spending $350 to listen to him in person.
The snow was fun.
I've been feeling my mortality lately. I'm not really sure why. Maybe it's my upcoming billionth second. <shrug> But it bothers me. I'm an atheist, so no afterlife for me. I wish I believed in something. But I don't. Bothers me that someday I will end. I hope it isn't anytime soon. I feel as though I have a lot I need to do before the end. So, why am I spending my Saturday morning typing on here?
Hey, why don't I waste some time for everyone else! Okay, I've come up with a puzzle. I think it's uniquely solvable, but I'd like to put it out there for others to try.
Here are the rules:
1) The puzzle is made of 9 3X3 squares. The rows and columns are made by the first number +, -, X, or / the second number to equal the third number. Here's an example:
6 1 5
2 1 1
3 1 4
so, 6-1=5, 2-1=1, 3+1=4, 6/2=3, 1X1=1, and 5-1=4.
The numbers allowed are 1 thru 10.
Now, the lower right corner (the 4 in the above example, marked by '?' in the puzzle below) is part of the 'final' square of nine.
The puzzle starts with some numbers filled in. Your job is to fill in the rest of the numbers. Got it?
Here's the puzzle:

I totally agree about the healthcare... the system is getting worse... maybe the next regime will fix it?
Say hi to your better half for me!
