Still little time to comment. Sorry everyone.
Looks like I'm not going to Singapore soon. But I may still have to go during the weekend I was planning on having my 1 billionth second party. I'll find out more in February. I also have to decide if the uncertainness of this trip is going to prevent me from shooting weddings this year. hmmm. Brankauti and I have been discussing other options for uses of the money I was going to use to get started. Maybe get the house ready to sell, so that we can seriously look at moving soon. dunno.
I'm going to be seriously busy at work this year. We had a planning meeting yesterday. And during the meeting I said, "I don't just have to clone myself, I have to clone the clone." One of the other scientists, "Having one engineer to support is just not enough." The department head, "Well, if anyone else would have been willing to help pay for one..." and my attention trailed off. Well, looks like I'm going to be on my own.
Come with me into my day in my geekdom:
One of the researchers at the lab asked me today if he bought the materials, would I be able to make diodes that emit specific wavelengths of light. Either he doesn't know what he's asking, or he thinks VERY highly of me. I simply said, "no".
I wrote a program today. Took about 4 hours. And only two SlimJims, three candies, and one RedBull. I was so proud of all the things it could do and the speed which I wrote it with, I had to show our lab programmer. She was impressed. I even figured out some interesting math in the process.
Got an email about a job in MD today. It's at a research lab at Johns Hopkins. <drool> I wish I could afford to live there. I know, I could easily move into a condo. But I just moved into my first house about 18 months ago. I don't want to go back to appartment/condo living. And anywhere else in the country I would be living VERY comfortably. hmmmm.
An old friend of mine called me at work yesterday afternoon. Her father died suddenly. He had the flu for a week. But refused to see a doctor. Sounded like he had just had enough pain. He died in his own bed, in his sleep, next to his lifelong wife. <sadness beyond > I haven't heard when the services are, but I plan on going.
