Hi.
I had to share with the folks of SG that yesterday I GOT AN APARTMENT. As some of you recall I've been searching for a good six months and yesterday, fate took control and made me the luckiest girl in Indiana.
So. I was at my friend Marlies' house hangin' out, smoking a cigarette, when I mentioned to her my lack of finding any suitable apartment and my extreme need to move the fuck out of my house. She mentions that the people who own the house next door were looking for someone to rent out the front apartment. It used to be a bigger house that someone converted into two apartments...and the people who use/own the back apartment are only there a few weekends out of the summer. I was interested, and asked to get the owners names and telephone number. The next day she gave me the information, and I called. The gentlemen is elderly and said he would talk to his wife and give me a call monday morning. Monday rolls around and he calls, asking if I could come meet with them and look at the apartment at 1pm Tuesday. "Sounds good" I said. So...I get ready to head over there yesterday and my mom comes home and tells me she's taken the day off and can she go with me. I said sure. I direct her to where this apartment is and she bursts into laughter. The property is within another privately owned property called Oakwood. It's incredibly safe, friendly, and right on the lake. Apparently, as my mother tells me, my Aunt lived there with my baby cousin several years ago before the current owners lived there. I was like.."well how about that"
Anyways. We met the couple who were very talkative but very nice and I walked in and OMG. It was HUGE. I mean, not like..HUGE but very very big for a first apartment. The floors are a faux hardwood-look, not linoleum, but something harder, and in very good condition (absolutely beautiful) I figured the carpet would be like mustard yellow or puke green like those old houses usually have. There's a huge gas fireplace right in the center of the house with a big kitchen, a huge storage laundry room with a back screened door, a bathroom with two entrances with all new appliances...and they are going to install a brand new stove and fridge before move-in date. There isn't a washer/dryer but it does have a hook up incase I'd like to buy one (which I doubt I would). It's pet friendly (cats only which works because that's what I'm getting.) and has a big bedroom that's actually got a place to put a curtain to hide it away since it doesn't have a wall anymore. The smaller bedroom isn't even big enough for a bed and would be perfect for a dressing room with my vanity, dressers, and a full-length mirror. There's a second walk-in closet/storage and a small linen closet and in the kitchen there is a ton of cubbord space. It comes with it's own pier and lawn mower. Water is included but other expenses (utilities and trash and etc) are seperate.
All this for 350 p/ Mo.
They will have it ready by July 1st.
I'm so excited.
