Holy crap demands of life slow things down sometimes.
Here it is Tuesday afternoon and I am finally able to type out a short story about the Blackheart Burlesque show at that Showbox on 1st in Seattle Washington. I kind of felt guilty about going because I had spent that previous two days helping my friends tear out and rebuild an exterior wall in their kitchen that sprung a leak Wednesday night while it was raining. Turned out to be pretty extensive damage, but that's another story. Turns out we conveniently reached a stopping point in time for me to make the show anyway and I really wasn't leaving them in any kind of a pinch anyway.
I get myself cleaned up and presentable, and make my way across the Puget Sound to Seattle to arrive at the venue about quarter till 8, with my VIP ticket in hand, stating that the meet and greet was set to start at 8pm, only to find that I was roughly 45 minutes late thanks to the venue's misinformation. I have just enough time to get my picture taken with @sunny @whiskey @liryc @mahneeguh @peneloppe and @cadorna thank you to @lioness for taking the pictures. Apparently I was running late enough that the ladies thought they were done taking pictures, because about the time I walked up they started singing "We Will Rock You" until I dropped my hat on Sunny's head, at that point Cadorna turns, points at me and asks if I was at the show in December, I tell her yes I was, to which she reply's, "I remember the hair," at which point Liryc chimes in with a great big smile telling the other ladies how nice my hair smelled last time. Once I sat down I started hearing comments about how it smelled good this year too, one of which probably came from Mahneeguh who if you look at my profile picture you will see giving herself a mustache with a handful of my hair. Sadly due to my late arrival however I was unable to get any autographs on the poster I bought from @lolana and @Lexi which means that next year I will just have to plan on being there early and getting dinner and drinks at the adjoining bar so that I don't get screwed like this again.
The show was great and you could tell the ladies were having fun, you'll be able to see what I mean once I have enough time to start posting some of the videos that I took that night, which might not have happened if Lioness hadn't been there to save the day. Just as Sunny got done telling the crowd to take as many pictures and videos as possible one of the venue's security staff walks up to me and tells me to stop recording, not wanting to risk getting kicked out and have to miss the show I shut off my camera with the intent of discussing the issue with the security individual, only to see them walking away. Luckily Lioness sees me standing there with a "confused as fuck" look on my face, catches them, asks what was going on and corrects their misunderstanding, then turns and gives me a thumbs up to keep taking video. @lioness you were my hero that night, thank you sweetheart. @radeo was our DJ that night and was kind enough to let me get a picture with her before the show started, it was pretty cool to look over and see her grinning from ear to ear as she watched the different sets through out the night, thank you Radeo, my co-worker was indeed very jealous that I got my picture taken with you ;)
Other than struggling to get good video angles around the drunk ass standing to my left the rest of the night went very smooth and was just a blast to experience, right up until the very last set, with the ladies dressing up as Storm Troopers and Boba Fet, sadly the battery for my camera died with roughly 1 minute left in the set, a little disappointing, but it doesn't change the fact that the show was fun all around, it just means that next time I will have to bring and extra battery along. I will try to post a video or two later tonight but as it is I have used up all the spare time I have at the moment and need to post this and run out the door, until then, fair well and enjoy all the other sights this website has to offer. :)
