Further Update: Fuck this 1500k up/256k down bullshit. I found that when you sign up for their phone thing as well, you can get like 12,000k up/1500k down! That's, like, really quite fast.
Update: I am now connected to the interweb with iiiNet's lovingly offered stop-gap dial-up solution. It feels faster already, and I know that's impossible.
All good things, especially if I omit the bad -- for some reason I'm willing to do that just a little now. I think I have seasonal affective disorder. That or I happened to be cheated on* during the winter. In any case, I was sad and now I'm not. Huh-fucking-zah.
Tailors are my friend - I have long arms even for someone who's 6'5", and buying everything in XXL means I have an extra 10 inches in the waist of everything I wear ,and I look silly. Took something to a lovely man on Elgin Street and he fixed it right up for me, and charged less than this other dude I took something else to once. Seriously, this other dude was a serious retard. $70 for taking the cuffs out and moving a few buttons in lieu of taking in a seam at the back. I don't care if the coat had lining, that shit's only worth $70 if you throw in a personally chosen gift of bikkies or hookers. Pretty ones, from one of the richer Guandong syndicates.
In only... 3 weeks, I guess, I will be on ADSL2! that's 1500k down/256k up. Better phone-ness too. It actually wound up costing LESS than our dialup plan, too, which just adds fuel to fire (or icing to the cake, depends - if you're someone who had hoped to speak to me in person ever again, I'd go with 'fuel to the fire'. I might be spending a bit of time at home from now on).
Urrr... what else... I want to see that ace looking movie with puppets, also Darwin's Nightmare. NOVA have tight fisted wanker Mondays, where it's like $4 a ticket. Go them!
Oh yeah: WHEELJACK! I'm getting him:
* I'm aware everyone has a different definition of what cheating is, and my using this word might bring to mind a particular sequence of events for you. My situation's different, and it's unique to me. I suspect there was a little self-serving mendacity involved, and I felt horrible for months, so I call it cheating.

The Algebraist has been put on the backburner, but it's definitely a good read, I'm not just messing with the populace.
