I've had three days of wanting to throw my computer out of the window. It started out by deciding that, even though it had played many a CD before that was no longer an option as it wouldn't recognise any audio CD's existence.
When that was fixed the computer then decided that it no longer had a modem.
When that was eventually fixed I'd lost loads of information (like every e-mail I've ever sent or received) and the video card of my computer decided it was time to argue with the rest of it meaning that whatever I opened was rendered unreadable.
Then it decided to stop working all together and even helpline folk were confused to hear that it wouldn't even boot up from one of the original CDs. Bah.
Three days later and it appears to be okay. It's amazing what an i-mac will do if you hold down apple, alt, O and F while it's starting up. I reckon everyone who I want to stay in touch with will get touch with me eventually.
Tomorrow morning I'm off to Edinburgh for a few days break. Computerless by choice - so much more palatable than having it forced upon you.

And the weird thing is, when I googled this, it came from one of the SG boards! Bizarre...
Meant to reply to yours sooner but lost track of things.
Didn't know of the 'Geezers' group (thought had trawled through them all) will check that out. I know what you mean about sometimes feeling a little 'old', but i don't usually let that bother me. Until I remember they are young enough to be my sons/daughters
Seriously, I'm broad/open-minded, up for anything that gets my attention & I don't feel my age so i don't see why i should 'grow old gracefully': fuck it.
I have had my share of computer probs so I sympathise - a number of times I seriously thought about trashing my last computer. And I lost all my emails too about 18 months ago
