Silly me - when I was reading through your profile I saw your hometown was listed in Ohio and I thought that was where you were currently living. Of course now I realize you're in Texas. "Humble" is such a cool name for a town. (So... is the town actually humble? Ha!) Is that in the Houston area? I have family there.
As for the welcome, it was just as nice as the person receiving it.
And lastly, I have to warn you about the bizarre protocol for replying to blog comments. I'm still struggling with it, actually. The comment above that you just added after mine? It was supposed to go in the comments of my latest blog. I know, it makes absolutely no sense and ruins any sort of continuity to any conversations, but that's how it's done around here. It's because of how you are notified of new comments, in the upper right corner where it has the little bubble with the count of how many comments you have in your latest blog entry. That's the only notification you have that someone is saying something directed to you (except for private messages of course), so it becomes really hard to find out when someone's replied to you if the count there isn't updated. So, the rules of thumb are:
1) When someone puts a comment in your blog, you're supposed to reply to them in THEIR blog
2) Never put a comment in an OLD blog entry of someone, even if you're commenting on that topic! Because the counter only shows the number of comments in your most recent entry.
You might also want to read back through the comments of my second blog post; my friend Northern explained it much better than I just have.
I'd like to say you'll get used to it, but I haven't! I even screwed up royally as recently as yesterday. You can read my latest blog entry to read me whine about how I can't wrap my little head around it. I'm sure you'll figure it out much more quickly than my thick self!
that's pretty much the nicest welcome i've ever gotten. i'm actually from ohio originally. this is such a small world, even on the internet
