Well, today was pretty fucking lame. I didn't get all of my homework done, I got rained upon going to and from class, and I had to sit in traffic for two and a half hours to get to work, including a wonderful 45 minute period in which I traveled from the "Exit 6: 1 Mile" sign to the actual exit.
Luckily, tonight made up for it. I went and picked up the girl* after work and we headed to The Variety Playhouse to see The Faint. Also in attendence were like half of the people I know, including two kids I haven't seen in forever: one since high school and the other since the 8th grade. In fact, said 8th grade friend was the bass player in my crappy 8th grade band. Crazy. Oh, and the girl had the priveledge of meeting my ex, which was just as hilarious as I thought it would be.
The Faint were pretty damn good, good enough, in fact, to cause me to do some strange combination of the hipster dance and plain old rocking the fuck out. Extra humor is added because I can't dance for shit and my attempts came out looking like the stupid hipster dance. And, to top it all off, they covered "Psycho Killer" by The Talking Heads. It was amazing.
After the show Kyle, the girl and I went to The Majestic which, for those not in the know, is an all night diner downtown.
On the way back to her place we talked, amongst other things, about her breakup. I was getting mixed signals from her all night, and that conversation was no exception. So anyway, I'm kinda stuck in a weird spot; I don't want to be an ass and hit on the recently dumped, but at the same time I was definitely getting that kind of message from her for most of the evening. This is yet another situation in which the sliver of nice guy engulfed in all the jackass managed to poke its head out and mess me up. Bah!
Eh, anyway, whatever happens happens. And either way, I still had a great night. Fuckin' Psycho Killer!
