Calc is done was handed in on time! Yay!
Now to buckle down and read Lisa Fan's crap and get her first assignment done for Wens. And clean my room so I can go buy a new computer table for my room, hopefully find my graphing calculator, do laundry and generally make it less messy.
I have no idea if I'm supposed to be at Mom's this weekend or not. I will have to go there on a flimsy pretext and find out.
I thought about two things last night while trying desperately to fall asleep: the universe has to be infinite, and sentient life has to exist elsewhere.
Logically speaking, the universe has to be infinite by definition. The universe is a conceptual container for all of existence. If this container is finite, then it is possible for something to exist outside of the container and therefore the universe has failed to be what it is.
Given that the universe is infinite (or at the very least, exceedingly huge), there are countless galaxies, which each have countless solar systems, each with anywhere from one to any number of planets depending on the gravitational forces in the system. The odds of Sol 3 (Earth) being the only planet among this plethora with sentient life are next to zero. I think the most arrogant statement we can make is that we are alone in the universe.
... Or maybe I just need more sleep.
