ok, so since nature decided to one-up me on my day off, my aforementioned plans did not go as, um, planned.
however, i did do a lot of other stuff.
my day started out with going into kitchen and seeing this
buckykatt666 probably knows what this is. it's a sign from clarendon garage. it's a sign that i made on my very first day at work. apparently, my roommate got really drunk on friday and decided to rip it off the wall to bring it home. i thought that was kinda cool, but then i thought, "oh, man, we're probably going to get a phone call asking for one more speed limit sign..."

since it was snowing and or president's day, broadway bikes was closed, so i wasn't able to see vomit and get the tools i wanted. but i was still able to do a minor amount of prep work on gsr bling. here she is before i attacked her
she's a 1980 savoy girls open-frame with a very cushy banana seat, and a pristine head badge. i had a wonderful time taking her apart...apparently they hadn't done any maintenance since 1983 because a lot of the nuts were rusted through. i checked the stem tube and it was in great shape. i couldn't remove the fork because my big wrench wasn't big enough. plus i couldn't remove the pedals because they have cottered cranks, which you basically need either a special tool or a sledge hammer. i need more tools!! ahahahahaha.
this is the end result for now:
i can't wait to powdercoat this baby in flake silver. here are all the parts i removed:
i am very psyched for its potential. i'll post more as i make more progress. i am also chopping my roommate's bike, which is a 27" frame with a shimano 24-speed hub. but my plans for that one may be a bit different. mwa ha ha ha ha.

Oh fie.
Tremendously sorry to hear of your dad. I do hope all works out. That stupid wheel needs to spin in another fucking direction. I don't care whose morbid fascination is on the line
