It's hard making new friends.
Each week (basically) I go to a local club, called "Independant Bar" and draw. Why? Because I want to.
I get a not-so-wide range of people that either want me to be "normal" and get drunk and dance with giant inflatable cocks like everyone else OR make them a tattoo.
Then I have the lot who feels sorry for me or wishes me good luck. As far as I can figure, they would like me to quit my nice cushy day job (administrating databases) and become a suffering artist. Yes, please let me quit the job where I make REAL money and join a sea of shit artists who just figured out Photoshop. I'm not good enough to be on top--and I never enjoyed the "just getting by" game.
Occasionally there's the interesting person (once or twice it has been an attractive lady) who likes to hang out and see what I'm drawing, though. And that's sorta why I do it.
Look, I like the goth/punk/emo scene--I just don't "fit". I'm a nerd. I don't modify my body because I either don't see the point, or (in the case of tats) I'll end up getting sick of it real soon. I occupy this weird middle ground where I'm not "edgy" enough to get invited to play with the goth set, I'm too ravaged by pop-culture to play with the "intellectual" set, I'm not a jock, nor am I an elitist. I don't know shit about cars, I don't care about the planet.
I'm just a nerd--with a very dark streak. I'm a nice guy who wants to be an asshole. I'm strange and different, but in no way am I a unique little snowflake.
...but that's a good thing.
