okay, so i've decided it's time to make my top 10 list of records for the year. so here they are in particular order:
1)my chemical romance-three cheers for sweet revenge (i saw these guys 3 years ago, there were 20 people there, and they put on a kick ass show...i saw them 2 weeks ago, there were hundreds of people there, and they put on an even better show)
2)bloc party-bloc party ep (i know it's just an ep but it totally rocks my world harder than anything else right now, at this very moment)
3)tiger army-t.a. III: ghost tigers rise (so mournful, so plaintive, sofa king cool)
4)head automatica-decadence (if there was an icon for boogieing, i'd by typing it right now)
5)muse-absolution (never has being such a drama queen rocked so hard)
6)modest mouse-good news for people who love bad news (okay, i'm sick to death of "float on" but the rest of the album still makes me happy in a fucked up way)
7)elliott smith-from a basement on a hill ("twilight" is one of my favorite songs EVER)
8)the cure-s/t (sure, not their best work, but it's still the fucking cure)
9)probot-s/t (dave grohl once again proves that he's the man...i want to start a trend, instead of "wwjd" bracelets, mine would say "wwdgd?")
10)tv on the radio ("ambulance" is the best. acapella song. ever.)
and the runners-up, in no particular order are:
bad religion (still doing their thing), converge (aaron burgess said it best, "god help me if i ever feel as fucked up as this sounds"), descendents (no milo, it must be pretty cool to be YOU), dillinger escape plan ("sunshine the werewolf" ranks up there with one of the best song titles ever, right next to "absinthe party at the fly honey warehouse"), drive-by truckers (i try to keep my south clean, but when i listen to this album it makes me want to buy a shotgun, grow a beard, let my lawn go to hell, and sit on the front porch drinkin old grandad and spitting...a lot), the haunted (rock and fucking metal...), hot water music (any time they put out a new album is a good time), interpol (this album lived up to the hype from their last one...their last one didn't), killswitch engage (this year, i re-discovered my love for guitar solos and triumphant metal guitars), the killers ("duran duran is neither a duran nor a duran...discuss"), lamb of god (again with the metal...much angrier this time though...), ben kweller (i remember when he was in radish and i saw them play on the weird al show...their bass player was tall and had dreads...what's up with that?), ted leo (the man can use "historicity" in a fucking pop song for fuck's sake), pig destroyer (this album is a painting...of your guts strewn around room like christmas lights in a college dorm), 3 inches of blood ("enemies of metal, your death is our reward"), tom waits (listening to tom waits, you wonder if he's going to survive through to the end of his albums...i'm not quite sure he does...)
okay. i'm done now.
