ok...
work is totally stressing me out...i don't know that i've talked about what i'm doing yet...but basically i'm going from being a server in one restaurant...to being the bar manager for another...still italian food...but a step up...as far as quality of food AND as far as the job itself...i'm still at the first job making ends meet as far as bills are concerned...because this new place isn't even opened yet...but i've got a full plate...i've got to make schedules...do liquor orders...figure out what liquor and beer i want to carry (the wine list is kind of set in stone for me...for now..)...i've got to get in touch with purveyors....get freebie knick knacks for prizes during training...figure out which of the bartenders i hired will work the best...most of them are friends of mine..so we already have that relationship..actually there's only one guy i don't know that's tending bar for me...last night i hung out with one of my purveyors and sampled 25 different beers that his company carried...hard work i know... ...last week the proprietor and myself hit up all the surrounding bars and restaurants in what he called a "market survey"...which basically meant we got drunk (on his dime) under the pretense that we were pricing beer and liquors...i mean we got a good bit of information...but it didn't feel like work..so that part is fun...but i've got all this knowledge being thrown at me...and i've just got to fit it in my head...it's a challenge...but i like that...there are a lot of perks...and once i know HOW to do it i'm sure it'll be like a second nature to me...i've always been good at what i do (ladies...write that down)...i've got dinners to go to...for free, which is always nice...ken (the proprietor and a good friend of mine) and myself are going to hit up a vineyard or two in search of good wines we want to carry for our proprietor's list....we'll take a cab out and back and just get trashed...i've got 50 free tickets to busch gardens to take my people out to have fun before we open...so there's a lot of good...and not really a lot of bad..just a lot of headache...
i'm sure i'll manage (pun intended)...
