ok...
so i'm going to tell a quick story...hopefully quick anyway...
when i first moved here to virginia i started talking to this chick online..her name was mags (margaret)..she was the perfect combination of smarts and looks...there was a week where she mailed me something every day...i don't know..she just made me laugh...well..she lived in nashville...and i took a trip down there for a week...her family wasn't lacking in finances in the least...i went to the country club they frequented (actually i felt really awkward there...i'm from a fairly poor family...our back-to-school shopping was at thrift stores...with used trapper keepers that we had to use a permanent marker to scribble out the "i love jake" notes everywhere)...but anyway..she took me to this really nice hotel that i can't remember the name to...where there were like trees and a river inside the hotel and you could just walk in and it felt like you were in a park...well..for a week she and i fucked like crazy....we didn't make love...there wasn't time for that...we only had a week together...i'm not trying to downplay our situation...it was great...it's just how the "meeting people online" thing goes...you talk about everything...but you know nothing about each other...creamy peanut butter versus crunchy isn't a topic you talk to with online folks...(generally)...well...i came back home after a perfect week...we joked about me moving there...but i had just moved to virginia..i knew that wouldn't happen...still it was cool to entertain the thought...and i waited for her to call me...and she never did...we got in touch like a month or two later...and she accused me of using her...i laughed and asked her if it could have been the other way...nope...it was all me...girls don't use guys...ok...well..she made sure to fill me in on her brand new boyfriend..and his kid..and how she felt wonderful and like a mommy...and then we lost touch...
a few days ago when i finally got back online guess who the very FIRST person to IM me was?...yep..mags...keep in mind i've been here in virginia um...like 4 years when thanksgiving gets here...it had been years since we talked...we chatted for a bit...talked about jobs..i asked if there were any guys in her life...twice..and she didn't say anything either time...and then she had to go...i said that it was nice catching up with her...and she said "we didn't catch up"...uhh....ok...i don't know...maybe she took my words as alhfoi;leh v oijvo ;ia vhalkhvihgoiue ioego ipjau;uigp[iag [y[aegy [oei...but i thought we were catching up...anyway....that kinda rubbed me the wrong way...probably 'cause i think about her from time to time...when i put certain CDs in..or read a particular book...or wear her brother's shirt she let me borrow and i forgot to give back...
did she mean "we didn't catch up" like we were going to later?...or there was no chance in hell that we ever would?...
anyway...
the real reason i wanted to write anything in the first place was this:
walking to my car after getting out of work this afternoon yielded a funny story...this guy with a fishermans hat was riding a bike down the sidewalk and yelled at me across the parking lot..i looked around me to see if he was talking to me...and evidently he was cause he rode up to me and asked if i wanted to see what he had been working on for the past week...he had a box in his hand and i was afraid he might have a severed hand or something (not really..but wouldn't that have been great?!)..so i said "sure"...and he showed me a model of a motorcycle...something something something chief and some year...i don't know vehicles...so i said "cool"...then he went on to say that he HAD to build it cause he didn't have the finances to get a real one...but i was at my car by this point so he said this over his shoulder and he rode on into the afternoon...i said "ok man", shook my head in disbelief, and got into my sauna of a car and drove home...
the end...
