this week started with a unexpected surprise or more like chance. even though my main preference of music is metal, i am very diverse, rock, classic rock, 50s doowop. anyway i am a big fan of Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers ! for awhile they were touring like every 2 years so i saw them in 2008 and 2010. thankfully they released a new album cause i really dont think they would have toured and the album is pretty good, Hypnotic Eyes.
it is usually just me and my one friend that only to go see Petty but this time there were others that were interested, more the merrier right? (insert low note) i am usually the one that tells my friends whos coming to town, how much and gets the tickets. as much as i love Petty, sadly this time, i had to decline. Heartbreaker. since i have yet to get a new phone, facebook through my laptop is the only way of gettin in touch with me, unless you know the house(land line) number. Monday was just another day, job hunts and i have been working on my parents house cause my mom is finally getting her hardwood floors installed soon that she so desired, haha. a bit of fixing and painting before anything new gets permanent. the phone didnt ring all day which i was thought was odd, and thats odd for my house, my mom likes to talk(<3 ya mom lol) when i got through painting that day the phone finally rang and it happened to be my friend(who i'd go see Petty with) saying he has been trying to get in touch with me all day. well the phone didnt ring, i was too busy to check facebook. just so happens my other friend that was going to Petty wasnt feeling well, something related to work and offered me his ticket. Whaaaatt!! as he knew i wanted to go and no one else would have taken it, he offered no money. well i am not that friend that forgets and ill give him his share because i know how expensive they were. i am just thankful for this friend that understands my love of music and Petty. i would have done the same, i'd rather have someone enjoy despite of money.
and with no doubt, Petty was amazing!!! Steve Winwood opened! "Cant find my way home" "Gimme Some Lovin" those tunes should ring a bell. he actually ended his set and later Tom brought him back during his set to do those classics, Steve with the Heartbreakers, it was awesome!! Petty & The Boys played basically all the hits as expected, "Yer So Bad" "American Girl" "Into The Great Wide Open" "Last Dance With Maryjane" "Free Fallin" and actually a bit more of the new album. "You Get Me High" "American Dream Plan B" "Shadow People" "Forgotten Man".
Monday:Success!!
tomorrow i leave to go to Delaware until Sunday to cover another music festival(sorta like in one of my previous blogs about Liberty Fest). Dewey Beach Music Conference. this will be my first time at this festival though but with the same format as the last. another 4-5 days of being surrounding by music and video/interviewing bands. AND the beach is right there!! definitely looking forward to spending some time in the sand. there is about 5-8 of us sharing a house, good people, good times. i am taking this as the summer "get-a-way" i didnt quite have this year. i feel like i need a good couple days away from city life, family life. relax.
if i am capable of getting any photos i will definitely share with you guys. anyone in the States and/or Delaware, come out! i plan on bringing my laptop so at least i have some connection with the world, mainly if my friend that has a summer home across Dewey beach is going to visit.
hope all is well in your world. ;)
