Sorry I have not been on for a while, things have been very busy at work. I have to put out at least two stories a week and sometimes they can be harder to track down then other times. It's a lot of work to take pictures and interviews and take notes and then write 1200 words then start all over because the first 1200 words you wrote sucked so you try from a different angle and you realize that the first try was pretty good after all. Once it's perfect the editor (who feels he has to fuck with everything he touches because it gives his life meaning) goes and changes around key points making your story sound like a five year old wrote it. There are worse jobs. I get paid to write. Two weeks ago I spent my Saturday in Bay Area taking pictures of cars and women. This last weekend I rented a car and drove to Monterey with a friend of mine to cover the American Le Mans/Speed World Challenge finale at Laguna Seca. The Sports Car Club of America covered my friends admission for Friday Saturday and Sunday ($40 per day) and I got in for free because I was Media. Work paid for the rental car, gas, the hotel and my food. All my friend had to pay for was his food. I was WORKING the entire time but I can't say I wasn't having fun while I was doing it. I met race car drivers I idolized sense I was a kid, wore the blue and white reflective vest that says "TV/Photographer," it was a dream come true. For those three days life could not have been any better. I fell on my ass in the mud twice running up and down hill to get to a better photo spot and it didn't matter one bit. It makes it suck a bit more when reality hits like tonight when I was at work from 10am till 9:40pm writing the story and sorting through 970 pictures deciding which ones will make the story and which ones will go in the gallery and which ones get deleted, but in the end it's all worth it. I'll be there 10 or 11 hours tomorrow too. I didn't finish the story which was due tomorrow morning and I have another story due Friday afternoon that I didn't know was due until earlier this evening. I wonder a lot when I write in journals because that is how I think unless I am writing an article. I'm much more focused. It's nice to be able to just blab out thoughts as they come out no matter how much sense they make. If you don't like it go read someone else's shit.
