So I turned 30 this year and have always wanted to learn a new language. I’m a native English speaker and I’ve dabbled in other languages but never become very proficient. For now I’m determined to learn a new one. My choice? Russian or Россия. Я учатся в дом. Learning a different alphabet has been a real challenge but I’m really enjoying the struggle. Maybe if I can stick with this after a year I’ll be ok at speaking but we’ll just have to wait and see.

Good luck with that! there are a lot of Youtube Russian language courses and non-speaker friendly vlogs. I enjoy the pointless angst of Yeahrussia and her cronies... --also Duolingo is pretty good for most languages, though I've not done their Russian nor is it one of my languages.. i am studying both Japanese and Chinese there (700 days without a miss) as well as French as a sort of palate cleanser... persistence and immersion in the music/films etc. really help (i have learned a lot of languages over my lifetime for various reasons)

Want to wish you luck in this big challenge! Russian is very beautiful language, despite his complexity and diversity ☺️👍👍
