So I will assume the majority of people reading this (I know my blogs are in huge demand) will know who I am talking about when I say Holden Caulfield. I felt like him today in the aspect that I am in Afghanistan and I really want to protect these small children's innocence. I spend a lot of time in a turret on a truck and I see so many people that we pass by everyday. The adults don't bother to look at you and if they do it is usually with a look of " I don't want you here". Teenagers and older kids just want to use you for anything they can get from you. But then there is the small innocent children roaming the streets with no parents to be found. I see these small kids and I can tell by the look on their faces they don't understand the reality they are living in, especially the females who will one day grow up and have little to no rights. As much as I want to help these innocent kids what can I really do? Right now I carry a big bag a candy and when I see them I will toss them some treats just to try to brighten their day, maybe they can escape their reality for just a moment because one person did something nice for them even though I really feel like it isn't enough. I am just ranting at this point so I am gonna cut it to an end now, heres a picture if I did it right of some kids while we were driving.
