had a scare with my cat, lucien. the vet called yesterday and said he tested positive for FIV (kitty version of HIV) and that i should bring him back to get tested again. they re-tested him today and he came up negative.

my girlfriend's ring should be ready tomorrow. i'm thinking i'll pop the question when we're in ireland. she previously suggested i do so and i know she'll be expecting it then, but it will still be more memorable than if i just did it in our apartment.
