So we don't have a house in Phoenix now. We had an inspector go through the place today and it is completely fucked. Apparently the owner tried to do a bunch of repairs himself to save money and he had absolutely no idea what he was doing. The roof could cave in, the plumbing is not only screwed but has lead pipes, the electricity is shoddy, etc etc etc. They are being total assholes about the deal, too. They refuse to come down on the price or fix anything. They seem to think we're still getting this amazing deal and we should be thanking them for it.
Now it's back to square one. We may have to live way east in Mesa to afford anything decent. I like the area but I'm hoping to get a job at Petsmart's corporate office, which is way the hell north of Phoenix in Deer Valley. The commute would not be fun. We did a search on some houses in Mesa and it doesn't look like they're a whole lot cheaper but Melissa thinks she can find some developing communities with new construction. I guess we'll see what turns up. It's also frustrating with the job situation because we'll both have to go out to interview which isn't very convenient while we're in Chicago and we can't move out there first because we won't have any income for quite a while. Grr. This sucks. I'm going to bed.
