Some people should not own animals. This older guy came in last night asking for some help. His English wasn't that great but he said he had a cat that was throwing up and had stopped eating. He wanted to know what kind of medicine to give him. I told him he would first need to take the cat to a vet to find out what the problem is. He said he was told there is some type of medicine that we sell that works well. I again told him he would need to speak with a vet and you can't give medicine without knowing what the problem is. He proceeded to show me tape worm tabs and asked if that would work. I'm guessing he didn't know what "vet" meant, so I said he needs to take his cat to a doctor. I guess he finally understood me and said that would cost about $200 and he didn't want to do that. I'm thinking, "why the fuck do you have an animal if you don't want to take care of it." I stressed several more times that it is not a good idea to medicate an animal without knowing the problem. He asked if he brought the cat in, could I figure out the problem? AGAIN, I told him to take the cat to a DOCTOR, which I am not. He finally left.
We were short a stocker, so I had to go outside to collect the shopping carts. I saw the same guy there talking with another guy. They both went back in the store. I figured they were going to buy the medicine, despite what I just told the first guy. I went back to the cat section and sure as shit, there they were. The new guy asked me which tape worm medicine is better. I told him, as I told the first dumbass, that they need to take the cat to a vet before they give him anything. I also said it probably isn't a case of worms because the cat would be eating constantly and his friend/dad/whatever told me he isn't eating. The second guy said they'd just try the liquid medicine because it would be easier to give. I started getting pissed and told him he can't medicate a cat for something that isn't a problem. He said if a person is sick, he takes Tylenol before he goes to the doctor to find out what's wrong. Tylenol and tape worm medicine are hardly the same thing. It even says to consult a vet on the damn bottle. The guy started walking towards the counter to check out and I told him he could make the cat worse by giving him medicine he doesn't need. His response? "Well, he's probably going to die anyway." I wanted to kick him in his stupid, ignorant head. I got ahold of the bottle and wouldn't let them check out. They finally left and I took the rest of the medicine off the shelves in case they tried to come back when I wasn't looking.
Why do people have pets when they're not prepared to take care of them? It's great that they wanted to get medicine for their sick cat but they refused to listen to me when I told them about 8 trillion times that they need to take the cat to a vet first. At least I thwarted their evil deeds for the evening. Hopefully, they didn't go somewhere else for the same thing. Fuckers.

Just remember - crabbies need more water than just a moist sponge. Too many PetSmarts are just giving them sponges.
I should pop in some time and say "sup g". I live in Edison Park so its not horribly far away.
