Greetings from sunny and hot Las Vegas, Nevada to my faithful followers, loyal friends, and random stumble uponers, although it's nighttime, not sunny and not quite so hot.
I'm rather motivated to write today/tonight, so I'm going to roll with it. Here's another blog homework in which @rambo and @missy asked:
WHO'S YOUR FAVORITE SUPERHERO OF ALL TIME, AND WHY?
That's an easy question for me. I loved Marvel comics as a kid. Among my favorites were The Avengers, Ghost Rider, Silver Surfer and The Hulk. I don't read comics any more, but I love all the Marvel movies and TV shows (even the crappy ones). More recently, I've really come to love Frank Castle (The Punisher).
As a kid, I painted one of my earliest skateboards (a wooden one) silver, like the Silver Surfer's board. I probably pretended I was the Ghost Rider multiple times as I rode my bike around the neighborhood.
The Punisher has become my second favorite "superhero" of all time. I put "superhero" in quotes for The Punisher because he's not really a superhero. He's a vigilante who brings bad guys to justice, usually by death. Why do I like him so much? Guns, guns and more guns. And his logo. And all the tactical gear he wears. It's just too bad they can't seem to make a good Punisher movie, although the one with Thomas Jane as Frank Castle/The Punisher wasn't bad.
But none of them are my favorite superhero of all time. Nope, it's not even close. My favorite superhero of all time is also one of Marvel Movie Universe's most popular characters...
IRON MAN
I cannot really explain why Tony Stark/Iron Man is my favorite superhero of all time. Maybe it's because his personality has always been the opposite of mine... outgoing, brash, no fear. Maybe because I'm smart like him (though not nearly as entrepreneurial smart). Maybe it's simply because he always has the coolest tech. Maybe it's because he's rich. But maybe it's mostly just because of the suit. Perhaps, it's all those things.
DID YOU KNOW?
They haven't shown this in any of the movies, but they came close in Iron Man 2. Iron Man's suit at one point was iron fabric. When Tony wasn't wearing it, if was just like fabric clothes we wear everyday. It could be folded up and kept in his briefcase. But once he put on all the pieces, it hardened into the iron suit we're all so familiar with.
Well, there you have it. Iron Man is my favorite superhero of all time. Who is yours?
Thanks for reading.
