ok, i've done 3/4 of my trip now. am stopping in kununurra for a day to have a look around. This place is famous for its argyle diamonds and for the huge agriculture/horticulture business' around the ord river scheme. For those that are interested, it is a dam that when full holds more than 18 X that of sydney harbour. That is a shit load of water. The Ord river also has the largest yearly flow of any river in australia and i think something like one of the top ten in the world. not bad for a river that is dry for about 5 months a year...
have met a couple of nice germans girls in the back packers here. one i share a room with and the other is coming site seeing with me tomorrow. that involved some serious rearrangement of my car so that i could find the front passenger seat. she seems like a lot of fun. also have an 81 year old sharing the room. That is the weirdest thing i have come across in a hostel. He's nice enough, but he NEVER stops talking and has almost no sense of humour. so i'm gunna read for a bit then just go in an hope he is asleep already....
