Happy Apple iOS 4 day everyone!

Father's was beautiful in South Western Ontario. I had my father and sister in for dinner (we're a hamburger and hotdog kinda family) and Darwin loved having time to play with his older cousins.

Otherwise, I have been very busy and constantly on the move. I did finally break down and buy myself a spiffy iPad so that I...

And his eyes have all the seeming of a
Demon that is dreaming,

And the lamp-light o'er him streaming
throws his shadow on the floor;

And my soul from out that shadow that lies floating on the floor
Shall be liftednevermore.

Standing on a precipice of pure math, gazing westward, out over the ocean of reason toward the very edge of knowledge. Across the expanse, a storm roils on the horizon, clouds of black fear lit with jagged-edged flashes of chaos. Pushed before the storm is a single point of brilliant white bobbing precariously on the angry tides. The vessel of hope that carries my future...

Trent Reznor and his new wife have come together to form a new band called "How to Destroy Angels". The first single, "A Drowning" is amazing. Somewhere between NIN and Massive Attack, it bears Reznor's hallmark melancholy downtempo sound along with his ingenious use of heavy layering techniques - all of which serve to frame Mariqueen's whispery, beautiful, and haunting vocals. The song starts off...

We were actually listening to it at work today. It is quite lovely haunting, and unmistakably Trent's baby! I'm looking forward to hearing more.
What do you think of the new Massive Attack album?

So not only am I addicted to my iPhone (I've traditionally been a BlackBerry kind of person), but I've also discovered that I can no longer live without the iTunes remote app. It is pure and unfiltered WIN.

I went out for FREE COMIC BOOK DAY earlier this afternoon only to discover none of the "free titles" were anything that I was particularly interested in....

It's been a very busy few weeks. Who woulda thunk that getting a publishing deal would require so much busy work. Fortunately, the folks at Harper Collins have been very helpful and understanding - so much so that I've had to start keeping a rapidly-growing list of names to go into my acknowledgements.

On top of all of that business, I've been hard at work...

I agree, I think kids are better off for spending their early years up to their ankles in dirt. It definitely builds character and germ resistance : ) and, of course, and understanding and appreciation for life, cycles and the interconnectedness of everything around us.
Now that the cherry blossoms are in bloom, and tulips are up I am missing my garden...sigh, apartment living.
Thanks for the recommended reading list, there are a few authors that I'm not familiar with. Some good Summer reading!

I am blogging for the first time as a Published Author.

Thats right folks. I got the call today that my manuscript has been optioned by a major publisher. I'll need to enter some contract negotiations but - beyond the details - it's a done deal. I could see a hard cover North American publication date of mid-October with a E.U. date a few months...

My review of "Toll the Hounds", by Steven Erikson.

Anyone to have made it through the previous 7 books in this series should know Erickson very well by now. He takes his time telling these stories and makes no apologies about it. We spend many hundreds of pages getting to know characters and their circumstances before the big events start to unfold, and in doing...

Crazy! I hadn't really heard of Steven Erikson until this morning when my friend spent a 45min subway ride raving about him and this series. He was so excited that he actually missed his stop. I guess it's a sign, I know what I'll be reading next : )
He said that his characters are incredibly well developed and multi-dimensional as well.
