I wish I knew more people who preached the bible as fact and the true word of God. I'd ask them: If the Bible is the word of God handed down to us from heaven and contains his Wisdom - why don't we keep discovering new truths in it as we gain knowledge about the world? Isn't it strange that God seemed to tailor His Book to the suit the level of knowledge held by an ancient civilization even though he knew this would be his One Book and that people for millennia would be turning to it for answers? I mean, sure - if he'd given a revelation about the morality of using Stem Cells to cure horrible diseases that the world hadn't even heard of yet, I have no doubt that ancient folks would have been utterly perplexed. But one day - eventually - people woulda been like "Oooooh! THAT was what he meant. Ok. Now we know his decision on this issue."
Instead, we have long lists of who begat who and some ideas about letting your neighbor rape your daughter if you cause him some calamity. i don't get it.
