Hey punks! Haven't blogged in a little bit! So here's a little update from the days recent!
We will start off with the return of DOA! Far From First couldn't play, we had too many members out of town for work! I went regardless to hang out with Joe some and of course watch the bands! I had to pick up the re-recorded version of Fucked Up Ronald that was re-recorded for Donald Trump. Wicked little 4 song EP for $6!
So that was a great show! I mentioned in my last blog that I started seeing a girl! We are actually dating now! DOA was the night we got drunk and said "I've been wanting to say 'I love you' for a couple weeks!" So that was really special. I'm just completely in love with this woman. She's incredible! She even likes SG and we send each other pics of babes on IG all day long! Otherwise we do shit like read comics and watch horror movies. Go to shows etc etc etc. She's rad AF!
So next up was the Nailheads show I promoted! Again FFF could NOT play.. So I had MArtin Bodo and the RIFF N RAZONES (Ramones cover band) open for the Nailheads. It was such a blast. We had some problems with the sound and the soundguy LEFT after he set up the soundboard etc. So poor Martin had the worst sound problems I've ever heard.. He's a hero though and jumped up on a table and just made everyone who knew the words sing with him! Love that man. I owe him big time! A friend of mine who knows sound really well showed up to view the concert.. and was recruited to do sound for the rest of the show. Thank Satan for good friends with knowledge! He also only made me pay him $25 so he could get a cab home! My birthday was August 29th and the show was held on the 27th, so the show was sort of a birthday party for me as well! Greg the Egg (local radio personality and bassist for the Razones) got me this GIGANTIC stuffed pig, probably from the fair! He had it autographed by all the members of the bands playing that night and wrote the date and happy birthday etc. Coolest fucking thing ever. I put it in my band's jam space! Here are some photos from that evening!
So here's a picture of a friend of ours and then my gf and I. Maeve and I have been seeing one another only a few months now, but we're just crazy for one another. She's the funniest, most caring and cool person I've ever met. When things were falling apart for sound at the show she totally had my back and took money at the door. She's always thinking of others and it's just such a beautiful thing. Plus she's a babe and lets me touch her butt. :)
Here are a bunch of things Maeve got me for my birthday! Missing from the picture is two punk records on coloured vinyl coming all the way from Germany! I'm excited for their arrival!
So I should also mention that there's a "festival" my friends hold on their farm every year for the past 12 years. I go every year that I possibly can. It started out as a punk festival and has turned mostly folk as everyone has gotten older. Far From First was again unable to play. So I got together with some members of FFF and another close friend who plays in a band called The Handlebars, and did an all 90's punk cover band that we named TyTy's Revenge! Kind of after Jughead's Revenge and our drummer is TyTy. He's a motherfucking ninja. Asian invasion drum machine. Living metronome. Good at math as well. Our band accountant.. and our bassist is an actual accountant! Here are a few pics from that weekend! (I got $138 speeding ticket on the way there. Fuckin pigs! :P)
So the main reason for this post! Far From First gets to open for MANSBRIDGE! I fucking love this band! Members of Farhler's Fury, good solid poppish punk from eastern Canada! They hail from My Fingers My Brain Records and basically I am trying to get my band on that label! Can you imagine our excitement when Mansbridge contacted US to open for them NOT ONLY in Prince George, our hometown, but in Hinton AB as well!? Sept 10th in Hinton AB, and Sept 11th in Prince George BC! This is also the first out of town show for Far From First. We are so excited to finally get a show out of our hometown. We all work and or go to school and most of us play in another band as well.. So booking tours is hard. We will basically have to get a few close out of town gigs first on weekends etc and then arrange some time for all of us to book off everything else and do a mini tour! Here is the poster for the show in Prince George! Make sure you check out Mansbridge on bandcamp!
So if you live in Hinton or near PG I hope to see you at the show(s)! I don't bite too hard so come up and say hello if you recognize me! I think that's it for this little blog update! Hope you had fun and if not then wtf, why you read dis?!
See ya in the pit!
xoxo, Dave
