Now that I'm home I like to keep busy all sorts of ways. I very often go to the gym, so there's that. Last Friday I went to a punk show. It was by donation, on a Friday night (as mentioned), there was other things happening that night and of course, it's just a punk show in my very metal/indie folk town. However there was a pretty decent turnout. Regardless of that I have known most of the punk scene for at least 10, mostly 15 years. So my friends were very happy to see me home from work for a while. I would get days off before but sometimes those days off would not correlate with punk shows and the like.. So it was a bit of a joyous time and my long long time friend Sam's band 'Bindles and Bombs' played Sonic Reducer (by the Dead Boys) for me so I could sing along. I was driving, so I didn't drink at all, but I had some tokes and I even ended up taking my hat off to go in the mosh pit. I have been invited to do some guest spots with Bindles and I'm actually quite anxious to do so. I'm also having a writing spurt and think with my new found time I'm ready to start a band again.
So the last picture of the super hands on guitar is my bro Sam. I've known him since Grade 9. I helped teach him how to do liberty spikes in his bathroom before punk shows haha. Oh how punk men bond over hair and nail polish.. TOO funny. The last picture in that group is their band's sticker and then a kind of joke PGXHC sticker.. I say half joke because they had them made for kids who helped build or maintain our punk scene. So I was actually sort of honoured to be gifted one!
On top of playing music I am incredibly interested in it. Not too strange, they often go hand in hand. So I have been trying to get a podcast together.. My problem is actually content because if I make it too local nobody will know wtf is going on.. and if I don't include the local stuff at all then I feel like nobody here will give as much of a fuck.. Small town first world problem.. I also write stories and songs, read and collect comics, avid book reader, video games, fishing, cooking, baking.. All sorts of things.
So today I went ice fishing. I went to a secret little spot and it's honestly not even outside of town, haha. So my friend and I each caught 4 rainbow trout. Basically all 4 of mine were 2.25lbs and one was 2.85lbs . I busted out the filet and had them for dinner with my Mother haha. Garlic, lemon juice and parsley. Didn't have any ginger or would have used just a tiny bit probably. I got the first catch with 10 minutes or lure in water. Was a great day!
