Road Trip!!!
I'm currently in STL to dance. (Larry Flint's Hustler Club in WashingtonPark, IL)
I just love taking road trips by myself. I can listen to my music however loudly and as many times on a loop as I please. I have very questionable taste in music... I rocked out to the Maxwell Street Klesmer Band, Youth Dekay, a house mix by DJ Zebo, Metric, Hanson, Operator Please, Frank Sinatra and the soundtrack to Everything is Illuminated. When I'm by myself, I scream the lyrics to the song Start Wearing Purple.
The drive down here was absolutely lovely. At one point, the sun was setting on my right and the moon was on my left. At that moment, everything seemed to be in perfect perspective.
One thing that I never enjoy is rest areas. They creep me out. I always imagine some dude with a chainsaw running up behind me and chainsawing my guts out. I'm just a tad bit paranoid.
So... I stopped at a rest area for a bottle of water, and on the vending machine someone wrote "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer". What a curious thing to write on a vending machine.
I never understood that bit of supposed wisdom. I mean, srsly. Unless you are a super hero/villian... unless you are living an epic tale of fucking woe, you should not have enemies.
To that vending machine guru of infinate wisdom: Calm down. You are taking life way too seriously.
I really enjoy my company. I'm spending my time not working juxtaposed between quiet mediation and dancing to too-loud music. I'm thinking of this time as a serious detox for my soul. I have been building up a ton of negativity... I have forgotten how to trust my own council. Sometimes you can't rely on others to be there for you. Sometimes you are the only person who can help you.
I missed my friend Linda's birthday. Boo to that. Maybe it is a good thing, though. Last year was horrid. I rode to the bar with some friends who decided to have sex moments before getting into the car. Consequently, the car smelled like lesbian sex. I was not happy. At the party, I was hugged/tackled by two drunken assholes (the birthday girl and my bff) and suffered two bruised ribs. Moments before the rib bruising:
At least the birthday girl was happy!
I was just looking at some pictures, and this one seriously brings the LOL. I have titled it BRAINDEAD.
I heart my holga. I have better pictures, but alas, no scanner in my hotel.
Hug/Tackle,
Daven
