So here's something no one knows .. 'cept you guys now. (the 3 that will see this)
I love watches. Always have since i was a kid - as far back as i can remember. I was fixated on them, wanted to own as many as possible (which wasn't many as a kid - they were expensive back then)
I remember when LED watches came out - my grandfather had one and god damn did i want one - but they cost a fortune. Gold metal, with this little band of deep red plastic across it. you pushed a button and the time would show up for a second in these crazy red glowing numbers. It looked like a cyclon.
Eventually they came down in price but by that time LCD came out. What a miracle of sciece and magic those were. I could stare for hours watching the numbers change. The mechanics behind it were unfathomable.
Now .. they give them away in cereal. Unbelievable.
I have a bunch of those giveaways now - i collect them when i see them .. Simpsons, Madagascar , etc ..
But I have other watches too - a big pile of Seikos (they were my favorite) casios, bulova, I have antique pocket watches, all kinds of them.
And now for the punchline ....I hate wearing them. I havent worn a watch in 30 years.
I always felt the same way about cameras too. There's something similar about the appeal .. the shiny delicate metal inside... i dunno.
But i do use my cameras .. every day.
I just thought it was weird because as a rule I'm fairly practical. (except for al lthe toys)
