hello ladies and germs,
I just made a choiced based on things that i've been thinking of for a long time.
I'm going to try my hand at not eating meat anymore. There are several reasons for this.
1) i never feel great after eating meat. the older i get the harder it is to digest.
2) i know that meat is full of chemicals
3) the way we get our meat is insanely inhumane. (is that an appropriate term for the treatment of animals?)
4) i've never seen a fat vegetarian
5) and this is the one that gets me thinking more than all the others....
I'm an animal lover ... not the taste - i mean their presence on the planet.
I'm sick of being a hypocrite. Eating flesh like i'm superior ...it's never sat well with me.
I'll eat fish... i guess thats the line i drew for myself. I ran my 5 points across the fish thing and felt i could live with it. I feel the same way about bugs. I guess if they tasted good i'd have no problem eating them either.
So now comes the challenges. My wife doesnt support this. The day after i announced it she made hamburgers. Eating out is a bit of a challenge. or friends houses for dinner.
Also - getting a balanced diet - finding other foods with the proteins i need.
So it'll take a bit of education, a lot of reading.
I'll have to get creative too because there are other things i cant eat : lactose, onions, raw tomatoes.
I have to confess at this point that i'm not now nor have i ever been a fan of raw vegetables. I love vegatables cooked/steamed/grilled, with vineagar and a bit of salt and pepper .. but i dont like them raw.
so - time for me to do some internet research.
time for me to get heathy
and time for me to leave those animals alone.
i'm gonna miss chicken !!!!!!

I had a friend who tried to be a vegetarian but he hated vegetables - even cooked, he wasn't much of a fan. Which was bad - he had a SUPER unhealthy diet (lots of processed soy foods, lots of pasta). Which is not meant to *dissuade* you - but your concern over your health is well placed if you're iffy on the greens. But palates do change!
