advertising geekdom: engage!
yep... as an ad major, i watch the superbowl mainly for commercials... and the game is 2nd unless my teams in it... besides i prefer baseball... but w/e...
this year was a pretty crappy year... a few noteworthy ones... like Napster and subway with its steamy car... and cadilac with the dad's car... the monkeys were the best for the job company... but alot of unmemorable ones... i feel cheated...
it was funny, i ran into a classmate of mine who has been in all my classes and it was funny that she introduced me to her friends as: "this is david, hes an advertising genius..." i blushed...
i think it is because i don't feel im the best, but i have certainly earned the respect of some of my fellow classmates and professors which im proud of... but i know i need to get better... i wish to get better...
but ne ways, time for the song of the moment: it's apparently about the channel i catch myself watching on tv on sunday afternoons...
And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead - "Classic Arts Showcase"
White glow of the TV set
Lights dancing on the screen
Voice-overs rise like minarets
Then fall diatonically.
Should I answer a friend's distress call
Or should I go to sleep?
Would I, like the voices rise and fall,
What's it to me?
All those hours of wasted time
Have never passed my mind.
Here I am comfortable
In arm's reach of the black remote.
Here I am comfortable
Surrounded by stings and bows.
Let everyone else go.
Nights on Kirkwood so serene
Far from the sirens and the screams
I could write or I could read
Go next door and smoke some weed
As long as I don't have to think
About who the hell's running this mess
Or what shit they're writing up the Stone or NME
Go out and make last call
Or sit here and do nothing at all
What's it to me?
All those hours of wasted time
Have never passed my mind.
Here I am comfortable
In arm's reach of the black remote.
Here I am comfortable
All those clowns, what can they know?
Let everyone else go.
