Spent this weekend being a bakers apprentice at Cosmeston Medieval Village. Up before six to light the big wood fired oven, then sweating away baking most of the day and telling visitors about the bakers life and the medieval diet.
Then a little time off in the afternoon to be the butcher, skinning and dressing rabbits for quite a crowd and telling them about how every bit of an animal was used. Really interesting to see how unused most people are to seeing a recognizable animal turn into food. Of course you have to do the 'Anyone want a lucky rabbits foot - not sure it worked for the rabbit'
Then an evening sitting by the still warm oven drinking beer.
Lovely.
