Meet my first new client Felix. He was rescued by a local group I volunteer for. After a year working their spay/neuter low cost clinic, I was asked to be a caseworker for a great program called Paws In Prison. My group and another group place the right dogs in many prisons throughout the state for training either as a home companion with AKC good canine citizenship, as a therapy dog, or as a service dog. I picked Felix up Saturday from the vet and played with him for about four hours before taking him to the prison where he will work with two trainers 24 x 7 for about 8 weeks. At about 10 months old and having been found completely matted on the city streets it was amazing that he was such a nice dog and already could pass a few of his tests for good behavior. It will not be hard at all to find this adorable little guy a home. Tomorrow I get to see him again as I attend the train the trainers class at the prison each week.
I am a lucky guy for once.
