Recap of the past two weeks ....
Friday, May 19: Travelled to Virginia Beach to meet Gaintner for the concert in Norfolk at the Norva. The opening act was a punk-type band that was okay. They had a song about growing up and how they don't want to get a job, they don't want to have investments, etc. I think Gaintner and I both found this song to be just hilarious. The song leads to me to the theme of everything in my entry; I'm grown and need to start acting that way. The main act was Better Than Ezra. While I was only familiar with some of their work, I still enjoyed the show.
Saturday, May 20: We started the day by making a lunch visit to the California Pizza Buffett. Mmmm ... delicious. We then went down to the beach, played a little football and laid out for a bit. It was about 80 degrees and very nice. After that we headed to Richmond for the Apples in Stereo / The Strokes concert. We had "seats" up front which entitled a sectioned off area in front of the stage. That allowed us to be about 10-15ft from the stage. I caught up with Robert from the Apples before the show but couldn't get a hold of Hilarie before or after teh show. The Apples were very good and we got to hear some of their new material. Then the Strokes took the show and they did a good show. They were very true to form and had a near perfect show.
Friday, May 26: Time for a visit to Terre Haute. I was able to get into town by 2pm to find that all my plans for the day were down the drain. I spent some time around the Rose campus and talked to Kevin L. a bit about the radio station. I then watched X-Men 3 at the theater which I thought was decent but not great. Next, I hung out at the Coffee Grounds and walked around campus until Kyle G. & Stu made it into Terre Haute. We checked into our flea motel and then headed to Rose campus for a bit of drinking and hanging out in the New Apartments.
Saturday, May 27: Saturday was the Rose graduation and we all went to see Victoria graduate. After graduation we went to BW3's for wings. After that I went to Anna's and spent time with her, Sam & Aidan. He is 20mo now and absolutely adorable. I read him a Thomas the Tank engine book and sung Raffi songs to him. After that we went to Maritzios for pizza dinner and back to BW3s for drinks. Kyle, Stu & I took a few walks around Rose over the weekend.
Sunday, May 28: Sunday morning I left Terre Haute and went back to Madison. I met Dona and we had coffee-type drinks downtown. It was nice meeting her and it was good to put a face to someone from the journal. After that I went to my parent's and watched the end of the Indianapolis 500. The end of the 500 was exciting. I also got to spend time with my two sets of grandparents.
Monday, May 29: Nothing real exciting on Monday. Said some goodbyes and headed back to Virginia.
