Last Saturday was Record Store Day. There were no participating shops in my town, so I went with my brother to a nearby town, and queued up in a huge line from 7am. Actually got in the shop at about 10:30. I got everything bar two records that I wanted. All were only available on the day, and a lot were coloured vinyl or picture discs, or had never been made available before - the Chet Baker 10" is one of those. The top row is 'Small town boy' 12" picturedisc by Bronski Beat: 'Living on the ceiling' Blue vinyl 12" by Blancmange: 'Remixes are also magic' 12" by John Grant: next are: 'V for Vendetta 12" by David J & Alan Moore (yes, THAT Alan Moore): 'Club Country' White vinyl 12" by The Associates: 'Cold Trumpet' 10" by Chet Baker: 'The Stone Tape' soundtrack, dayglo green vinyl 10" by Desmond Briscoe and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop: 'Your Generation' red vinyl 7", by Generation X: 'The Saturday Boy' 7" by Saint Etienne: 'Overkill' and 'Bomber' 7" picture discs in a gatefold sleeve, by Motörhead, and finally, two 7" singles from the brilliant 1970's artist, Shuggie Otis - 'Aht uh mi hed', and 'Ice cold daydream'. A good haul. Can't wait for next year.
