i recently found something that i had composed very long ago. i was studying Keats on my own time because in tenth grade unfortunately the instituion i was in had left Romantic age poets out of the curriculum.
this was my first attempt at Romantic lyric poetry, it is as follows:
Much have I pushed this stone
On decent incline and chased it down
Back and forth with smile or frown
Condemned to toil in and out bone;
At times of weighted lift I been shown
That the blessed marks of Cupid bear deep
As Aphrodite lent her keep
Till the rock grew and I have moan.
Then began I to heave towards the skies
Only to lose hold and watch and wait
When all had I left was the swelling eyes
Looked upon by Guilt and Grief aside the gate
Left to continue in this demise
Alone to be consumed by this fate.
i hope you enjoy it.
