I'll be doing a reading and performance at Dixon Place in Manhattan on Friday, June 7th at 7:30PM Sharp! I'm sure most of you aren't even up but... Dixon Place: A Modern Campfire
What I will be reading from...
"Billboards is the story of Johnnie, an artist searching for a repeal of the law of unintended consequences. In a timeless New York City, Johnnie, a recently unemployed 28-year-old painter, whose expiration date reads best if used by twenty-two, taps the eternal Savign on the shoulder, orders the same drink as him, and says I love your shoes. Lime Green Alligator Shoes. Savign makes him an offer he could refuse.
From horse racing to Forty-Deuce cruises, basketball at The Cage to gallery openings, a drag queen St. Peter to a story of true love, Savign guides Johnnie in his evolution from a straight Everyman painter, to a young gay superstar artist named Mr. Risk. Billboards begins as a fairytale with a happy ending in a massage parlour and ends up a myth thats true. Johnnie says, If my kid ever asks me why do so many artists die young Ill say, Because trying to be immortal takes the life out of you."
