As of October 4th of this last year, I have been a Suicidegirl staff photographer for 3 years and it's been quite the ride and so much has changed in all aspects of my life since becoming involved with this site. I keep going back and forth between trying to write something totally meaningful about my experiences over the last few months and wondering if this is actually the right avenue for such things as in some ways this is a 'business' blog and not so much a personal one. I think I can just sum things up with knowing that life is really all about your attitude towards it, and reality is indeed a projection of your mind and its up to you to control your mind. At times life is testing and you never know when shit will get flung at you but how you react, how you handle the situation and how you learn from the situation is really whats important, as long as you've learned something. And just know that in the grand scheme of things nothing really matters and everything also does at the same time, so you might as well have fun with it. That being said, there have been many times where i've taken my life for granted, including working on this site, but thankfully trips like the Suicidegirls Lisbon Shootfest 2013 reminded me about how awesome life can really be. This is where people think well of course, Darryl gets to hang out with 30+ hot chicks who run around naked of course it's a no brainer.
Truth is, it's not even about that, it's about being in a unique position where I get to meet and get to know some really amazing people from all around the world, with different values, different cultures, but all in all one thing ties them together, and I'll admit being a wolf amongst sheep (or vice versa if you think really hard about it ) I get to see a side of a rare side of females that few men are privy to. If you only see "The boobs" you're missing out as well. Remember folks, they're just girls; girls to remind you about simpler times, girls to remind you that life can be fun, girls to remind you that nothing is impossible, girls who remind you of your first love(s) and girls to redeem other girls who may have misguided you along the way.
Doing solo international travel is somewhat mentally tasking and navigating around a foreign land is both exciting and somewhat scary at the same time but its just awesome to know that I can travel almost anywhere and have some form of support if it's really needed. I finally realized that traveling isnt really about being somewhere else, it's about opening your mind and seeing stuff from another perspective and culture and if you're not seeing the land in the eyes of the people that live there, or open to new foreign experiences then you're missing out. Anyway, time to catch up on pictures!
First of all I finally got to shoot with @bully. This lady has been on my shooting list forever, and even after living in pretty much the same town and having mutual friends it still took 7 months to shoot, but all in all if this is what we produced after all that wait, it was worth it.
Later we had coffee, and talked about Golden girls carpet art (only in Portland)
Lisbon Shootfest sets have been starting to slowly queue up, but sometime in the future you'll be getting a lot of brand new work (if all goes according to plan)
First up is @illusion I remember shooting this little lady when she was just a brand new hopeful, and had never shot a single set before in her life. Helped turned her pink and 2 years later shes grown into such a beautiful young woman
Also during my last trip to Portugal I shot @Plum and helped turn her pink as well,
