A friend of mine is trying to fix me up with one of her co-workers.
I hate the fix-up!
I always feel pressured to be on my "A" game (though, I'm not sure what my "A" game is).
You know the fix-r-upper has talked you up to this person like you're the best thing since The Empire Stikes Back. So now you HAVE to be that person. Smart, funny, interesting. Though you may not Feel that way about yourself at all. And hope that they find you attractive in the beginning cause you don't want to see that "OH, HELL NO!" face with the fake smile on it.
Then you HAVE to talk to this person. No matter what else is going on, this person has to be the center of your attention. The two of you may not even be feeling each other, but you're stuck together for the remainder of the evening. And there's knowing that everyone is watching to see how things turn out. You are the center stage of The Freak Show! So what do you do? You ask the person if they would like to go some where and talk. And you walk down that Soul Train Line of Shame to an exit while everyone looks on making that "Ooooh!" face. And the Quick To Fix You Upper has a look a pride at their latest Love Connection.
"Oh no! This isn't awkward at all!"
Has anyone ever had a good fix-up?
Not saying you got laid or anything like that. I mean actually had a good time at one.
And not that you met through mutual friends. I mean a friend thought they were Chuck Woolery and played Match Maker with you.
My Fix up is tomorrow night.
I wanted to go to The Metro and hear some live metal music.
